The VMBA Certified Mortgage Professional designation identifies you as a professional in the mortgage finance industry. The CMP is recognition of your education, VMBA participation, professionalism, and membership in other organizations.
What is a Certified Mortgage Professional?
A Certified Mortgage Professional (CMP) is a designation bestowed upon a career-minded individual in the mortgage finance industry who has met the requirements of the CMP program.
To enter the program you must initially have 75 points and will be awarded the CMP when you accumulate 150 points. Review requirements on the CMP Application.
Who is Eligible?
VMBA members with a minimum of one year membership, three years experience in the mortgage finance industry and the required points.
How do I Apply?
Review the points system to determine if you have achieved the required initial points to become a candidate for the CMP program. If you qualify, submit your completed application with a letter of recommendation from your employer to the VMBA. Once your CMP Application is received, you will be notified in writing of your acceptance into the program and will have five years to earn the remaining points.
What is the Cost?
There is a $150 application fee.
You will be recognized for your professional achievements at a special award ceremony at the VMBA annual dinner. In addition, you will receive a Certified Mortgage Professional plaque and lapel pin. The letters "CMP" may be used after your name on your business card, identifying your designation. The VMBA will distribute a press release announcing certifications.
